WHY SHOULD I EXERCISE?

Exercising can make you feel happier, it can give you more energy and make you feel more confident.  It can also be a great way to spend time with friends and meet new people.
All physical activity makes your muscles stronger, improves your circulation and can help prevent health problems in later life.

Is exercise safe for me?

Nearly everyone can benefit from some exercise. What type, and how much you should do depends on what kind of heart condition you have.
Everyone should try to do regular physical activity. Even if you have symptoms from your heart condition, like breathlessness, you may still be able to exercise, but at your own pace and your own level.
Most people can do more than they think, but you should listen to your body and stop to rest when you’re tired.
Being short of breath when you exercise may be because you are unfit and not anything to do with your heart problem. If you’re not sure which it is , talk to someone on your specialist health team.
